It was during the week of August 15 that I went to the Richers with my family. We love walleye fishing but wanted to try our hand at pike fishing.
Every year Raymond suggests a few new lakes that I should try. I am hoping that in a few years I will have discovered the over forty lakes that make up the territory.
The first lake my family and I decided to try was Lanky Lake. The beaver dam had broken and the water level had dropped almost 2 metres. I was happy that I had followed Raymond's advice. My wife and eight year-old daughter, Melanie, were having great luck with pike that afternoon. My line never touched the water as I was to busy netting and baiting their lines.
Next day brought us to Weast Lake. We caught several
walleye but the trophy for that day was a 25-pound/46-inch pike
caught by Melanie. I had it mounted and Melanie displays it
proudly on the wall in her bedroom. I am sure anyone who loves fishing would like to do the same.
Would you?
